Modular carpet tiles (sometimes called carpet squares) are a popular choice for high use areas. The most common size of carpet tiles are 2′ x 2′ (24 inches x 24 inches), although other sizes are possible and depend on the manufacturer. The base of the carpet is bonded to a densified rubber-like base (typically vinyl) for dimensional stability. Dimensional stability is important so the tile does not grow or shrink with changes in temperature or humidity.
